Product Review Process

Overview

The following is the process for the product vetting. Note if all goes well, with no outstanding issues, this process should only take a week and half at most. Depending on the device testing or issues and workload with the specific team members. All that are in this process will be accountable for making the process work.

Phase 1

1. New product models and eta of arrival are emailed to the product engineer to pull for vetting, from the Tech Manager, Product Marketing Manager or the Product Manager.

NOTE FOR PMM OR PM: If coming from the PMM or the PM, a tentative release date should be provided to the Product Test team.

2.Add the following to the New Product Tracker Excel Workbook, Sheet 1:

  • Model Number
  • Part Number (if applicable)
  • Product Engineer add TR6 Model or A-Stock product.
  • Release Date

3.Add the following to the New Product Tracker Excel Workbook, Sheet 2:

  • Any videos created and URL
  • A Declaration for the sample will be created.
  • The information from the spreadsheet will be added with:
  • Model
  • PN (If applicable).
  • Quantity
  • And comments as to Vetting or Testing
  • The “Charge To” section will be for that PMM.
  • Once the declaration is complete and signed, it will be submitted to the following team members in email form:
  • Dahua Demo
  • Moore Zheng (Sample Request Handler)
  • PMM
  • Product Engineer
  • Product Vetter
  • Tech Manager
  • This will start the process of pulling the product from the warehouse and into the Product testing team.

Phase X:Product Engineers Initial Impression & Tests

  • Once product is received, from the warehouse, the date is marked in the excel spreadsheet and put on the shelf for vetting. As well as the SN or Serial Number of the product.

Product Engineer will do the following:

  • Pictures taken
  • Copy CD (if included)
  • Scan any:
  • QuickStart guides
  • any other written material.
  • All information will be uploaded to the product marketing shared folder.
  • A dates will be entered on the excel spreadsheet, according to the status of the above process, as well as the location of the folder.
  • The Product Vetter for the product line will test the product for three days for an evaluation. First date of testing will be entered..
  • Product will be tested and cross referenced against the existing spreadsheet.
  • In the event of issues, Product Vetter will contact the Product Manager and Dahua HQ for assistance.
  • Once issues are cleared then a preliminary report will be created and sent to the technical support team for evaluation.

Phase X:Tech Support Hands On

  • Product Engineer will set the product up on Technical Support’s network.
  • This will include a billboard stating:
  • The model
  • The address on the network
  • What evaluation questions and tasks need to be addressed.

Phase X:Wiki Page Creation, Firmware Check, Etc.

  • Wiki page created.
  • Date of when product needs to be released.
  • Also the model/s will be entered on the “New Product Page” of the Wiki.
  • This will make the Technical Support Team members aware that a new product is coming up.
  • It will also get Tier 2 team to be ready to create the Model’s individual page as well as testing.
  • A date will be entered on the spreadsheet tracker on this event.
  • The Tech Team will have up to two days to review.

Phase X:Wiki Page Creation Hand Off

  • The tech team will submit to the product vetting team of what they see or needs to be addressed.
  • Any issues will sent to the product manager and Dahua HQ.
  • The Tech Team member will also inform the Tech team of the Wiki page, when created with an email.
  • Once wiki page is created the Product Engineer and Product Vetter will add all:
  • Relevant pictures
  • QSG
  • MANUALS
  • Software
  • Templates.
  • collected to that page.
  • A date of completion will be added to the excel spreadsheet.
  • Once everything has been addressed a final report will be written and submitted to the Product Marketing manager or PMM for release.
  • A date will be entered on the excel spreadsheet of when the product is handed to the PMM for the release process.
  • If product is A-Stock: Stock counts and where the products are housed will be entered on the excel spreadsheet as a courtesy to the PMMs.
  • The product will be determine either returned to the warehouse in C-stock or move to the Technical Support room for the Live Demo or use of technical Support calls.
