2. To get into the settings of the device, you will want to open up DMSS. Once in DMSS, you want to make sure you are on the “devices” tab. Find the doorbell in the list of devices and click on the 3 dots to the right of the device and click on “Device Details”

3. Once in the device details you will have a number of options available. I will list which each option is, then later on will go into each menu with each important option.

Push Notifications – For the doorbell, there is nothing inside this setting that you need to enable for the notifications to function such as someone pressing the doorbell or if it detects motion or a human. However there are 2 settings inside. Alarm Message reminder, and Device Offline prompt. Device offline prompt will generate a notification if the doorbell happens to go offline.

Arming Settings – This setting contains your motion detection settings as well as human detection settings. You can also adjust the area that the doorbell watches for these events as well as the sensitivity settings.

Stream Setting – This setting allows you to adjust whether the default live view will be the main stream or the sub stream. By default it will be the substream which is recommended since pulling up the live in sub stream will use less data. Of note, when in live view you can still change between main stream and sub stream when viewing, this is just the view that will automatically load when you first open it.

Custom Audio and Video Encryption – Allows you to set a password for viewing the streams. Warning if you forget the password, you will not be able to view the streams.

Audio – This setting allows you to enable or disable audio recording from the camera.

Wide Dynamic Range – This is an image setting that attempts to even out brightness on the image. As an example, if the doorbell is underneath a canopy where it is dark and it is looking out towards somewhere bright, you will sometimes get the effect where it is so bright it is just a white area outside. Turning on Wide Dynamic Range will help to adjust that brightness so you can actually see the image properly.

Quick Reply – These are different options you have when you cannot answer the door, you can select a quick reply that the doorbell will play.

Volume – Volume settings for the doorbell

White Light – Settings that allow you to change the whitelight behavior on the doorbell. By default, when it detects motion or a human, the light will turn on.

LED Indicator – This allows you to turn off the LED that surrounds the button on the doorbell. Image Flip – Allows you to flip the image upside down. This would be beneficial if the doorbell had to be installed upside down.

Chime Linkage – This allows you to specify the type of chime you are using, mechanical or electronic. It also allows you to link one of our wireless chimes if you have one.

Network – This setting shows the wi-fi that the doorbell is currently connected to, as well allows you to change the wi-fi that it is currently connected to.

Time Zone – Allows you to change the time zone setting for the doorbell. Mainly important to make sure the time is correct for your area.

Share Device – This setting allows you to chare the doorbell with others. As an example if one adult adds it to their phone as the owner of the device, they can share it to other people in the house so they can also answer the doorbell or watch recordings etc. You can also choose what the shared users can access. Firmware Update – This allows you to update the firmware on the device if there is an update available.

Recording (This option is not in the picture) – This setting allows you to see how much storage is installed in the doorbell and how much storage is remaining. As well you can enable general recording in here. General recording is 24/7 recording, whereas the default is motion/human/doorbell presses are recorded.

4. Arming Settings

Motion Detection – Having this on means you will receive notifications on the phone if motion is detected. Motion detection will capture all movements, whether it is an animal, or whether it is a blowing tree.

Human – Having this enabled means that if the doorbell detects a human in the frame, it will send a notification to the user. This avoids false detections since blowing trees or animals won’t trigger it.

Motion Detection Area – This setting allows you to block out areas that you don’t want to cause the motion detection to trigger. The “red” area is the area the camera is watching, anything without the read boxes, will be ignored. By default it is the full screen.

Detection Area – This is for the human detection function. It is similar to the motion detection area but in this case it allows you to drag the bounding box to cover whatever area you want the camera to watch for any humans. By default it is the full screen.

Detection Sensitivity – This setting allows you to adjust how sensitive it is to picking up either the motion detection or the human detection. You can choose from lowest sensitivity of 1 through until the highest sensitivity of 6.

Note: if MD and HD are enabled at same time, only HD event will be received on DMSS, but MD and HD event will both be recorded. If MD is disabled, HD can't be enabled.

5. Motion Detection Area Setting

Paintbrush button far left - clears the entire alarm area, aka clears the red area.

Middle Button - inverts the area. So if you have already set up your area but did it in reverse accidentally, this button will flip it, all red areas become white, and all white areas become red.

Eraser Button far right - this allows you to use your finger to clear out the red area so it is not longer being watched.

Save Button top right - Once done modifying the region, click the disk icon to save your changes.
